With admission rate at 18%, one can definitely expect that UC Berkeley is a tough place to get in – required GRE scores for UC Berkeley are above average.

UC Berkeley is one of the top global universities and one of the toughest places to get in with an acceptance rate of just 18%. It is a top prospect for most business school applicants who apply to the elite Haas business school. Moreover, its science and engineering programs are the hardest to get admission to.

With admission rate at just 18%, one can expect that UC Berkeley is a tough place to get in – required GRE scores will be above average, and applicants will have to demonstrate a high level of excellence in their overall application. With all top schools like Harvard and Stanford, average GRE scores will just no cut the deal.

According to U.S. News, the average GRE scores for engineering applicants on the GRE are 161 (Quantitative), and 154 (Verbal). It is 152 (Quant, 52 percentile) and 159 (Verbal 80 percentile) for education programs.

As most of these top programs always do, they do not provide average or minimum GRE score requirements for most of their programs. As a result, I use the ETS data on GRE scores for every discipline, and the program ranks of UC Berkeley to estimate the average GRE scores required.

Of course, this method of estimating the average scores is not perfect, but it would give you a rough estimate of what GRE scores you must be aiming to get admitted to UC Berkeley.
