For more than 6 years, Lu Xu used a specious identity to take the GMAT test at least 500 times for other prospective MBA students – charging each client $3000 to $5000. In order to transform his identity he would sometimes dress as a women, wearing a wig and some bad make-up while at other times he would simply walk in as himself. At all times, his GMAT score for his clients would exceed 730 and sometime even touch the 790 mark.
No one has taken the GMAT exam as many times as Lu Xu and he thinks of himself as an invincible GMAT test taker. GMAT has been in place for over 60 years now and around 10 million people have taken this exam so far – but no one as many times as Lu Xu. What is most interesting is the fact that Lu Xu is a highly accomplished person – he has a PhD in Biochemistry along with an MBA, an MA and an MD. He has worked at some top research centers in the US and has been a research scientist for many years.
Lu Xu claims that after he took the GMAT the first time in 1997, he became addicted to it afterwards. He was drawn towards the GMAT test as if he would go crazy if he tried resisting it. He exclaims that GMAT is one of the most intelligent exams in the world and he saw beauty in every question. After he took the test and scored a near perfect on his first attempt, people started approaching him to take their GMAT exam – which he gleefully did.
At one time he was taking almost 2 GMAT and GRE tests a day. Finally he got indicted and was sent to jail for 2 years and 8 months. He says that he knew that he would be caught a long time ago but he couldn’t stop taking the test because he was at the ecstasy level of this insane addiction.
While in jail he was paid a visit by the president of GMAC who came in to ask how was it humanly possible for Lu Xu to finish so many tests with near perfection. He suggested to the president that once out of jail he wanted to join GMAC and create questions for them – but that never happened because the GMAC had lost faith and trust in this man.
Once out of jail Lu Xu again sat the GMAT test and scored a 760 – this time for his own self. Now he teaches GMAT in New York and charges a rate of $50 per hour and $3,000 for 700 score guarantee. He says in his mission statement that he wants to “Kill GMAT”, “Kill them all!”
